Free Bariatric Surgery Seminar!
Come learn about obesity, its effects on your health and your life. Also learn about what surgical options are available in the fight against obesity. The seminar will be given by a Bariatric surgeon of Advanced Surgical Associates located in Springfield. There will be a question and answer period after, with no obligations.
Pre-registration is welcome, but not required.

Lap-Band® Qualification Standards Lowered
Due to a recent change in FDA guidelines for weight loss surgery patients, Advanced Surgical Associates is now able to offer Lap-Band® surgery to patients with a body mass index as low as 30 with obesity related diseases. Previously, patients would have to have a minimum BMI of 35 with obesity related diseases. Click Here to Read More about new Lap-Band Guidelines.
Guest Speaker: Dr. Mehul Kamdar
A graduate of Columbia Univeristy College of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Mehul Kamdar completed his genersal surgery and plastic surgery training at the combined institutions of New York Hospital- Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and New York Weill Cornell Medical Centers. His experience included training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as well as the Hospital for Special Surgery. His cosmetic experience developed during time spent at Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. With a particular interest in advanced breast cancer reconstruction, Dr. Kamdar took a position as a Clinical Instructor at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles to focus on microvascular breast reconstruction–the most advanced option for breast reconstruction after mastectomy. A native of Northern New Jersey, Dr. Kamdar has joined the medical staff at Atlantic Health, Morristown Memorial Hospital and Overlook Hospitals. His practice provides both cosmetic and recosntructive plastic surgery. His reconstructive practice focuses on advanced breast cancer reconstruction. His cosmetic surgery practice includes post bariatric body contouring, breast and abdominal reshaping procedures, facial plastic surgery and skin care. Dr. Kamdar was awarded the Robert G. Bertsch Prize in Surgery awarded for emulating the ideals of a humane surgeon. He also was awarded the Dicran Goulian award for highest academic excellence at Columbia Medical. In addition to his office in Morristown, Dr. Kamdar also sees patients in his office in New York City.
Guest Speaker Dr. Peter Hyans
We are very proud to welcome Dr. Peter Hyans as the guest speaker at our September 13, 2010 support group at Overlook Hospital in the Wallace Auditorium. Dr. Hyans will be speaking about plastic surgery and skin removal after bariatric surgery. Dr. Hyans has 16 years of practice experience specializing in aesthetic surgery and reconstructive breast surgery. Dr. Hyans is board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is also a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
